Cisco Police and Fire Department, Sheriff’s Department called to Lake Cisco

Cisco Police Department along with Eastland County Sheriff’s Department and Cisco Fire Department were called to the Lake Cisco Point early Friday morning, September 23, where a man had been reported to have swam into the lake and never came back to shore. According to Cisco Police Chief Kenneth Preston the man entered the water while attending a gathering of friends and family at approximately 12:30am. After several minutes had gone by it was realized that he never returned to shore. Police and emergency services were summoned to the scene at that time. Cisco Fire Department deployed a rescue boat and were able to locate the man approximately 100 feet from shore line. Cisco Police had their lake patrol on scene and were ready to deploy their boat, however the man’s body was located just before that could be accomplished. Justice of the Peace Jon Glenn pronounced the man deceased at 1:50am. Chief Preston stated, “the response to this trag-ic event was a show of great team work among the officers, deputies and fire rescue personnel. We are thankful to our great Cisco Fire Department for their quick recovery efforts.” The man’s identity will not be released at the request of grieving family members. Texas Parks and Wildlife authorities have been notified.
