Larry Brown was relaxing at his home in The Villages, Florida, and preparing for one of those rare Thanksgivings that didn’t involve basketball games or recruiting trips. In fact, the memory of miles and miles of road trips, take-out meals and noisy gymnasiums during more than four decades of coaching were memories for the newly retired grandfather of six.
Mr. Sylvester Lopez Jr. - honored at Ranger Elementary for his service to our country. We would like to also thank Mrs. Brittany Maples, kindergarten teacher, for organizing this event.
Teacher of the Month: Mr. Andrew Hertel Mr. Andrew Hertel is the Ranger MS/HS Teacher of the Month for November. Coach Hertel graduated from Angelo State University and started his first teaching job at Ranger Middle School. He has been with Ranger ISD going on 4 years now. He is currently the theatre director, assistant basketball and track coach.
Senior of the Month: Ms. Isabel Romero Isabel Romero is the Ranger High School Senior of the Month for November. Isabel is the daughter of Josephina Salinas. She has attended Ranger for 14 years. Isabel serves as a teacher’s assistant in Mrs. Gunstanson’s classroom. Notable awards or accomplishments include achieving Microsoft Word certification. She plans to earn a certification in the healthcare field as an ultrasound technician after graduation.
On Wednesday, November 18, the kindergarten and fourth grade classes at Ranger Elementary School presented Ranger native, Sylvester Lopez, Jr., with signed Veteran’s Day cards and a poster to thank him for his service in the U.S. military.
Surrounded by his Girls, Gene Bascom Hill Jr, passed away peacefully at home November 23, 2020.
