Wranglers go 1-2 at Region 5 tournament

The Cisco College Wranglers turned in a solid showing this past weekend at the Region 5 Baseball Championships in Weatherford. The Wranglers went 1-2 in the tournament, which was held at Roger Williams Ballpark. Cisco opened the tournament with a tough 4-2 loss to the New Mexico Junior College Thunderbirds. NMJC used the win as a springboard to advance to the regional championship game on Monday against Weatherford.

Late surge helps Stamford end Lady Loboes’ season

For the first two game in their best-of-three playoff series, the Cisco Lady Loboes quieted the Stamford Lady Bulldogs’ bats. Unfortunately, the third time was no charm. Stamford reeled off eight runs in the top of the seventh inning Monday evening at Poly Wells Field at Abilene Christian University and then held on to claim a 17-3 victory in their Class Region I-2A quarterfinal showdown. With the win, Stamford moved a step closer to making its third straight appearance in the state tournament by cementing a place opposite Colorado City in the next round.

Adrian Allen, Vintner provided samples of his wines and Sommelier, Kathy Wilbanks paired wines with the guests. A&M Specialist gave an interesting program on history of Texas wines and what varieties do well in our area and other interesting facts. Thanks to sponsors Blue Duck Winery, Texas A & M AgriLife, Texas Farm Bureau, Izzys Garden of Eastland and Cowboy Toffee company of Ranger. Special thanks to Dale Wilbanks and Diane Frazier, Laura Leigh Freeman, and Kalynn Meyer for volunteering and helping prepare and serve food.
