Billie Dean Hallum

Billie Dean Hallum, age 82, of Eastland, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, surrounded by her loving daughters.

Billie was born in Knox City, Texas, on May 12, 1939 to W.D. “Bo” Loper and Vera Inez (Jones) Loper. While living in Odessa, Texas, she met and married Homer Hallum, a marriage that would last for 35 years, and together they celebrated the births of three daughters. Her main priority was raising her children, caring for her husband and selflessly providing them with all of her love. She was a gentle soul, and always expressed kindness, love and acceptance to those she met. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and playing solitaire. She was proceeded in death by her father, W.D. “Bo” Loper; mother, Vera Inez Loper; brother, Joe Loper; and, son-in-law, Bill Bird.

Survivors include her daughters, Donna Bird of Eastland, Texas, Lisa Bledsoe and husband, Mike of Carbon, Texas, Sarita Weddel and husband, Kelly of Odessa, Texas; grandchildren Kristi Williamson, Kirsten Hamrick, Justin Williamson, Chelsey Bledsoe, Kylin Pena, and Malcom Bledsoe; great-grandchildren Kimber Britton, Lance Britton, Kyanna Bowles, Nathan Little, Zakkari Williamson, Liam Pena, Lee Martin Williamson, Jr; and Leni Pena; nephews Joe Allen Loper and wife Patty, and Jackie Loper and wife Marilynn.

Visitation was held Tuesday evening, May 25th at Edwards Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 26th at the Eastland City Cemetery officiated by Larry Hood.

The family would like to acknowledge the doctors, nurses and staff of John Peter Smith Hospital for the expert care she received, along with their kindness and compassion.
