Dennis Lynn Hazelwood

Dennis Lynn Hazelwood of Lake Leon, Born June 17, 1957 passed from this life on Labor Day, September 6, 2021.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Lee Price and father James Woodrow Hazelwood, numerous brothers and sisters including James R. Hazelwood, Vernon Tunnell and Joyce Guthrie.

Dennis leaves behind his loving wife of 41 years, Dawn, two daughters, Heidi Reeves and husband Cody and Amy Hazelwood and Fiancé Josh Dickey, four grandchildren Hannah and Hailey Clark and Allison and Adam Mercer as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dennis served in the army in the 2nd Armored Division-Hell on Wheels where he received awards for marksmanship. He made his living in various occupations including in the oilfield, and as a skilled mechanic, a machinist and a truck driver.

Dennis had a great love for his family, his dog D-Lo, and his home that he built at the lake where he spent most of his days and enjoyed his retirement. He was a Charter Member of the Phoenix Motorcycle Club and spent 20 plus years of his life riding with his club brothers. He was a lifelong Democrat who was proud of his service to his country.

A quote that resonated with him was one by Horace Walpole “life is a tragedy for those who feel and a comedy for those who think”.

He will be dearly missed by those who loved him. The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love he left behind.

The family will be accepting visitors at Edward’s Funeral Home on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Following the visitation on Saturday there will be a short motorcycle ride around Lake Leon in his honor.
