Stanley Neal Underwood

Stanley Neal Underwood, 77 of Eastland, Texas, passed from this life on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at his home.

Stanley was born on September 11, 1946, in Gorman, Texas. He was a farmer, rancher, and member of the church of Christ. He retired from Lone Star Gas after 33 years of dedicated service. Stanley loved Tavia’s banana pudding, all the sports, and the Eastland Mavericks and Albany Lions; but he loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren far more. He married Judith Ann Phillips on February 18, 1964, and he lived the rest of life, almost 60 years, as a loving and devoted husband.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Milton and Verna Dean Underwood.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; his sister, Sue Mizel and husband Terry; his children, Laurie Alexander, Doug Underwood and Diane, Brad Underwood and Tavia; his grandchildren, Zach Alexander, Trey Underwood and Dyllan, Dylan Bullard, Bailey Loyd and Kelly, Alesse Davis, Mason Underwood, Macen Davis and Tori; his great-grandchildren, Ryder, Riggin, Brixton, Rylynn, Benji, and Blayze; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

While Stanley’s physical presence has departed, he remains alive within the memories we hold dear. As we navigate the days ahead without him, let us follow the example he left behind by embracing life’s challenges with grit, determination, and a smile. May Stanley’s legacy continue to inspire us to pursue our dreams with unwavering dedication and to cherish every moment just as he did.

There will be a visitation for friends and family at the Edward’s Funeral Home in Eastland, Texas on Monday, November 13, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The celebration of life will be at the Daugherty Street church of Christ in Eastland on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 2:00 pm followed by a brief grave side service at the Eastland Cemetery.

His family thanks you for your prayers and thoughts. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Ben Richey Boys Ranch in Abilene or the Eastern European Mission (eem.org) in Stanley’s memory.
