Ruth J. Heidenheimer

Ruth J. Heidenheimer of Plano passed away Friday, February 5th, 2021 in Carrolton, Texas. She was 100 years old.

Due to Covid 19, there will be no public graveside service. She will be buried privately at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, Texas. Burial is under the direction of North’s Funeral Home.

Ruth was born on Aug. 31, 1920 in St. Louis, Mo. to Isaac and Sarah Deutch. She attended public school and was a graduate of University City, Mo. High School. She also attended Washington University in St. Louis.

She married Winston Heidenheimer on Aug. 29, 1954. They lived in Anson and Winters before moving to Cisco, where Winston opened a Heidenheimer’s Store. In Cisco she was a member of the Cisco Civic League, Cisco Country Club, Historical Society, Heart of Texas Girl Scout Counsel, Director for the Hilton Foundation Center, and worked on the “Xmas in May” Project.

In Abilene she served on the Board of Abilene Philharmonic for many years and was also active in the Abilene Philharmonic Guild, a member of the Contemporary Arts, Abilene Community Theater, Grace Museum, the Abilene Opera Association, Interfaith Counsel; and last but not least, Temple Mizpah.

She loved to travel, read, play bridge and mahjong, and be with her many friends. She loved life, and had a wonderfully happy, positive attitude and personality.

She is survived by her son Mark and daughter-in-law Kathy of McKinney; granddaughter, Lori Stewart along with husband, Joey, and son, Christopher of Fort Worth; granddaughter Leslie Horn along with fiancée, J.T. Ross, and son, Nolan of Fort Worth; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Winston, a daughter Sarah Ann, and sisters Clara, Thelma and Harriett.
