Travis Lee Dyer

Travis Lee Dyer, 87, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021, at his home in Crowley, Texas surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Sneed Funeral Chapel with a visitation two hours prior from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Lometa City Cemetery.

Travis was born on July 30, 1933, in Coryell (Gatesville) County, Texas to Travis (Dick) Dyer and Oshia Lee (Jackson) Dyer. He grew up in Odessa, Texas, and graduated from Odessa High School in 1952. After high school, he attended college at Rice University in Houston, where he received a fullride football scholarship. He began work for Armour Meat Company and then with Merchants Fast Motor Lines as a truck driver where combined he drove for several years. In 1967, Travis accepted a position with Gibson’s Discount Center as Receiving Manager and was quickly promoted to Vice President. He was with Gibson’s for many years. In 1988, he accepted the position of Transportation Manager for Western Container and worked there until he retired in 2000.

Travis married Penny Kay Suggs in 1983 in Odessa, Texas and they were married for 37 years. Travis was a member of the Burleson Church of Christ. He enjoyed woodworking, Dallas Cowboy football, hunting, fishing, playing card games and dominoes with family and friends. He was known to be a little competitive.

Travis was preceded in death by his parents; Travis and Oshia Lee Dyer and his granddaughter, Karen Janine

Survivors include his spouse, Penny Kay of Crowley, Texas; his four children, by his former wife Deloris Yvonne Endsley (deceased), Robert James Dyer and his wife, Pinky of Fort Worth, Texas, Johnny Lee Dyer and his wife, Donna of Garland, Texas, Donna Jeanine McFatter and her husband, Donnie of Mansfield, Texas, Tommy Glynn Dyer and his wife, Mindy of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Charlotte Foster and her husband, Jimmy of Mayhill, New Mexico; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 niece; 2 nephews and several cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Burleson Church of Christ at 1150 NW John Jones Dr, Burleson, TX, 76028 or Salvation Army.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Vitas Hospice and Huguley Hospital.
