The Eastland County Community Choir is rehearsing again for a concert on Sunday, November 13. The Choir is rehearsing at First Baptist Church of Eastland on Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the choir room.
The Fires of Love is the title of a song written by Dove Award Nominee Michael Anthony Curtis. Michael has written for numerous country and gospel music stars including Randy Travis, Blake Shelton, Lee Ann Womack and many others. He just happened to be in Eastland the weekend last March with the fires came roaring into our county. He also witnessed the outpouring of love by people from all over Texas to those who had lost everything. Michael is the one who has inspired his good friend, lead singer Marty Raybon and Shenandoah to come to Eastland for this benefit concert. The concert will take place at Maverick Stadium in Eastland at 6 pm. Sunday night October 2nd. Gates will open at 5 that afternoon. But there’s much more!
Sidney Mahaney pleaded guilty in court to indecency with a child and two counts of Solicitation of Prostitution and received 6 years in Prison, according to the Eastland County D.A.. He was taken into custody Monday awaiting transfer to a prison facility. Mahaney will be 81 when released and will be required to register as a sex offender for life. He could have faced a minimum 25 years if convicted. The verdict allows the victims to have closure and not have to testify and be cross examined by a defense lawyer, sources say.
