On May 11, 2020, a meeting of the Eastland Economic Development, Inc. Board of Directors was held. Members present were; Vicki Bradley, Mark Pipkin, Carolyn White, Jason Cochran and James Doyle. Executive Director, Tom Bailey, was present along with city staff members Ron Duncan, Roma Holley and Tony Stubblefield.
We have gotten several results back this weekend and all are negative. As of this morning, we have only one active case for Eastland County and four recovered COVID-19 cases. There are about 30 tests still pending results. Last Friday night our theater in Eastland resumed business and it went very well. All attendees followed recommended protocols by the County and State. A good crowd was in attendance at the drive-in circus at Bryan Jackson’s place of business. Again, all patrons observed the recommendations to stay in their cars at this event. BJ’s in Mingus is still having drive-in movie nights and also observing all guidelines posted. Thanks to everyone, who is making an incredibly positive reopening of Eastland County. Our restaurants in the county have been busy with takeout in the past, and have now began returning to business as normal opening dining rooms in the last couple of weeks. The cooperation and courteousness have and will get this job done of keeping the spread of COVID-19 slowed for Eastland County. Thanks to all who are making a difference. ABILENE, Texas, May 19, 2020 - The Board of Directors of First Financial Bank, N.A., today announced the promotion of David W. Bailey to Executive Vice President and Senior Lender for the Abilene Region. In addition, Candi Kanady was promoted to Eastland Division President. Bailey will continue to serve as Chairman and CEO of the Eastland Division. Both announcements were made by Ron Butler, Chairman and CEO of First Financial Bank, Abilene.
