The candidates are Jim Burleson, James Crenshaw, Jay Gentry, Jeff Thackerson and Wendell Tipton (not listed as pictured). Rising Star Wildcats—In honor of Holocaust Remember week, Rising Star ISD, as a district, decided to do our own version of the Butterfly Project. The butterfly is a symbol for each child who lost their life during the Holocaust. This week each grade level has discussed the Holocaust: its meaning and it significance in terms of today’s society, in ways that were appropriate for that age group. All teachers and students also came together to a visual representation to give meaning to the approximate 1.5 million children lost to the holocaust. 1700 butterflies were placed in the ground at Rising Star school.
