Republican Candidates for Eastland County Commissioner Pct. 2 were presented at a forum held in the River of Life Church Tuesday, January 28. The candidates are Jim Burleson, James Crenshaw, Jay Gentry, Jeff Thackerson and Wendell Tipton (not listed as pictured). The next Republican Forum will be HOUSE DISTRICT 60/US SENATOR: Thursday, February 6 @ 6:30pm @ First Baptist Church, Eastland.

1700 Butterflies Placed at Rising Star School

Rising Star Wildcats—In honor of Holocaust Remember week, Rising Star ISD, as a district, decided to do our own version of the Butterfly Project. The butterfly is a symbol for each child who lost their life during the Holocaust. This week each grade level has discussed the Holocaust: its meaning and it significance in terms of today’s society, in ways that were appropriate for that age group. All teachers and students also came together to a visual representation to give meaning to the approximate 1.5 million children lost to the holocaust. 1700 butterflies were placed in the ground at Rising Star school.
