As it was, Newcastle survived a scare in front of a small crowd at O.C. Warden Stadium and escaped with a 68-22 decision. With the win, Newcastle ran its season record to 3-1. Ranger fell to 1-4 heading into Thursday’s cross-country showdown with Rising Star.
