Map to $104,000 buried along Sandy Creek NE of Cisco

Yancey McCrae gave me a copy of a map that supposedly led to $104,000 buried along Sandy Creek northeast of Cisco, Texas; this was January 20, 1971. Cliffard Estes got this map from a Mexican who walked from the coast looking for an island in the middle of a river or creek. Yancey thought it was along Sandy Creek east of Earl Smith's house (which was on the border of Eastland and Stephens counties, just west of Canyon Road). As the story goes, an Englishman who was a sheepherder had $104,000, but he was killed by someone who buried $10,000 of it, and made a map so the rest so it could be gotten later. According to the map, just north of the island along the western bank of the creek was cabin. Then southeast was a dugout. Somewhere near one of these was found an arrow laid out in rock. A circle was also laid out in rock. Another arrow was cut on a tree in the ravine to the south of the island.

Day of Champions Coming Up

Ranger’s Day of Champions is coming right up – on Saturday, October 15th! This is an annual “Clean-Up” Day, sponsored by Ranger College and partnering with the City of Ranger and private citizens. Our “Recycling Center” (what I used to call the Dump Ground, off Tiffin Road) will be open for Ranger residents who live within the City of Ranger city limits.
