Eastland harriers run to win at boomtown XC relays
The Eastland High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams both walked away with top honors at the 2023 Boomtown XC Relays in Burkburnett on Saturday. Overall, Eastland had two teams finish in the top five in bthe boys’ and girls’ divisions. to Kelin Poncin.

Scranton Musical Sept. 2nd
The Scranton Community Center will have our next musical on Saturday, September 2, 2023. Ruby Sherman of Cisco is hosting the meal of hot dogs with all of the trimmings and various delicious desserts with tea or coffee with free refills. Sandwiches will be available for $1.50 for any who desires them. We will appreciate your donation of $7 for the meal, dessert and drink. Food is served at 5:00 PM, and the music starts at 5:30.

CHISHOLM TRAIL EXHIBIT COMING TO EASTLAND COUNTY MUSEUM
Eastland County Museum is pleased to announce that it is hosting the Texas Lakes Trail traveling exhibit on the historic Chisholm Trail beginning August 31. The Texas Historical Commission celebrated the 150th anniversary of this fabled trail which took millions of longhorns north to railroads in Kansas. The money from the sale of the longhorns brought Texas out of the financial disaster following the Civil War.

Sherinda Barrow is elected as Alternate Angus Delegate to the 140th annual meeting
Sherinda Barrow, Eastland, Texas, has been elected as an alternate delegate to the 140th American Angus Association Convention of Delegates, set to be held Nov. 6 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel and Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, reports Mark McCully, chief executive officer of the American Angus Association. Barrow, a member of the American Angus Association with headquarters in Saint Joseph, Missouri, is one of 165 Angus breeders who have been elected by fellow members in their state to serve as an alternate representative to the annual meeting. Representing the United States and Canada, those serving as state delegates will participate in the business meeting and elect new officers and five directors to the American Angus Association board. Held in conjunction with the 140th Annual Convention of Delegates, the Angus Convention is set to take place Nov. 4-6, in Orlando, Florida. The Angus Convention offers unrivaled opportunities for realworld education and face-to-face networking. The American Angus Association is the nation’s largest beef breed organization, serving more than 22,000 members across the United States, Canada and several other countries.
