Cisco Writers Club

I missed the first 17 years of the Cisco Writers’ Club, but when I became a member many of the original members were still active. At that time members of the club had written over 30 books. One member was Lela Latch Lloyd a former public and college teacher who had written six books. I had written four books at the time and came back to Cisco after having been gone for 20 years—out-of-state. Lela took me under her wing and ushered me into the Writers’ Club. I returned to Cisco with a Ph.D. and no JOB. After graduating with a math degree from Abilene Christian, I returned to Cisco for one year to teach Algebra at CHS and coach the JV football team. For the next seven years I continued to teach math and coach on the Middle School level-- Andrews for three years and Abilene Madison for three years. Numbers don’t have personality, but history involves people who do. I changed from math to history after Delburt Schaefer and I found those horseshoes and snake carved on rocks west of Lake Cisco.
