Isham Lamb Wrote About Red Gap and Robert E. Townsend Wrote About Indians, Cattle, and Early Settlers of the Cisco Area

Isham Lamb reported in the Cisco American, February 9, 1929, that Red Gap was the first post office in western Eastland County, one and one-half miles west of the railroad crossing that became the town of Cisco in 1881. Red Gap had begun in 1877, a tent city when the railroad came through a gap of red hills, but it had begun largely because its location was near crossroads of several early trails and roads.

NEARLY $100 MILLION APPROVED FOR TEXAS TRANSIT AGENCIES

The Texas Transportation Commission has approved $96 million in state and federal funds for rural and small urban transit agencies across the state to help Texans travel to jobs, healthcare and education. The funding goes to agencies like Southwest Area Regional Transit District that provided a path for Gilleland to reach her dream of getting two college degrees through a comprehensive outreach, travel training, and partnership with healthcare case-management programs.

GRAHAM LIVESTOCK COMMISSION, LLC Sale Every Monday Starting at 10:00 AM, Graham, Texas (940) 549-0078 July 17, 2023 Receipts were 2260 including 550 Packer cows, Bred Cows, and Pairs.1710 Yearlings and Calves. We had 261 consignors and 55 buyers. Packer cows were steady. Packer bulls were steady. Young replacement cows and pairs were steady. The market for steers and heifers weighing 500# and under were steady to strong. The market for steers and heifers weighing over 500# were steady. We had a good run of cattle with the market being steady on last week’s higher market.

CISCO HIGH SCHOOL FFA--Fifteen Cisco FFA members attended the Texas State FFA Convention in Dallas. They have a state qualifying public speaker, an Area Officer, 8 members received lone stars, and a scholarship recipient. Students heard from the state officer team, conducting business, received awards, listened to dynamic speakers, and had lots of fun.
