The Commission and the Mayor met on April 1st at 9:00am in the Gorman Community center for a workshop to discuss possible goals/projects for our community. Several topics were discussed but no action was taken because that was not the purpose of the meeting. However, as a result of the meeting the following items were placed on Thursday night’s agenda: discuss and make changes if desired to our current animal control ordinance; what to do about vacant- unoccupied houses in need of repair, incentives/ rewards/yard of the month for those property owners that are taking good care of their property; issues concerning the Gorman City Cemetery. The highway six project, park improvements, and downtown properties were also discussed.
Gorman Independent School District was presented with three framed “In God We Trust” posters by Gorman First Baptist Church deacon David Perry. One for each campus. FBC approved doing this at their February business meeting.
Community members learned about Food Preservation, differences in water bath vs pressure canning, and the basics of canning.
