Joseph Rainey and Maddox Roberts both rushed for touchdowns on Friday and lifted the Gorman Panthers to an important 38-0 victory over the Perrin- Whitt Pirates at Brogdon Field. With the win, Gorman moved into a tie for second-place in the District 9-A Division I. The Panthers improved to 1-1 in district action and head into Week 8 just one game back of Gordon in the district race. The Panthers jumped on Perrin-Whitt early. They scored twice in the first 10 minutes of play and grabbed a 14-0 advantage. They all but iced the contest in the third by grinding out two more scores and upping their lead to 30-0 at the start of the final frame.
Hadli Hampton raced her way to the top spot in the individual standings on Saturday in Gordon and, in so doing, helped the Gorman Lady Panthers claim second in the final District 19-A standings and extend their season.
Despite solid outings from Nash Guthery and Joseph Rainey, the Gorman Panthers came out on the short end of their District 9-A Division I opener on Friday, falling by a 6014 clip in Gordon. With the loss, the Panthers fell to 4-2 and to 0-1 in a district. Gordon improved to 6-0 and 1-0. All six teams in the 9-A race are above .500 heading into Week 7 of the 2022 season.
Hadli Hampton and Delila Crain legged out top-10 efforts on Saturday and helped carry the Gorman Lady Panthers to second in the team standings at the 2022 Priddy Invitational Cross Country Championship. Hampton powered her way to second in the girls, 3,200-meter race, while Crain ran her way to seventh.
