Shooting at Ranch North of Eastland

On early Saturday morning, February 12th, 2022 at approx. 12:15am deputies responded to a reported shooting at a ranch north of Eastland. A man was shot after an altercation with other people that were there. The victim, Dawson Stiver, had a rifle and was threatening to shoot when another man shot Dawson killing him instantly. None of the involved parties are from Eastland County. The case is still under investigation by the Texas Rangers. Any other information is not available to be released at this time.

Ranger ISD would like to give a special shout out to Eastland ISD, Ranger College and the fire fighters of Ranger, Desdemona and Eastland for their immediate response of support for us during Friday’s grass fire. Eastland ISD proactively reached out to us and within no time at all and drove additional buses over in case we had to evacuate the students and staff.

Storm Spotter Training Scheduled Tuesday Feb. 22nd

The 2022 severe weather season is not too far away, and the National Weather Service and local public safety officials want you to be ready. The National Weather Service will be conducting a free severe weather training class for Eastland County on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Eastland Fire Department (414 S Seaman St, Eastland, TX). Officially called the SKYWARN Storm Spotter Class, the program will be held in partnership with the Eastland Fire Department. There is no cost to attend this class, and no registration is required. NOTE: This class may be changed up to the day before the class. Be sure to check the links provided below for updated information before attending.
