The Eastland High School boys’ and girls’ varsity cross country teams competed in the Stephenville Thrill of The Hill 3A Cross Country Invitational last week and turned in another outstanding performance in preparation for the District 8-3A meet at Dublin High School on Oct. 28.
The Eastland Mavericks will put their district championships hopes on the line in Week 2 of the district schedule on Friday. The Mavericks will travel to Comanche to face off with the unbeaten Comanche Indians.
The Eastland Mavericks found a different way to win on Friday night. After two weeks of relying on the offense to torch opponents, the Maverick defense came up with the big plays in the Mavericks’ 2020 district-opening victory over the Millsap Bulldogs.

The Eastland High School girls’ and boys’ cross country teams continued to turn heads on the trails this past season with solid showings at the Dublin Dash Invitational. The EHS girls raced their way to the top of the girls’ standings on Sept. 30, while the boys’ squad legged out a thirdplace effort.
The Eastland Mavericks will try and post a double-shot of good news this Friday when they head to Millsap with the opportunity to reach .500 for the season and open District 5-3A with a win.
