Good increase in Allocations for City of Gorman
Board Members of Gorman’s Charlie Garrett Memorial Library (left to right) Ruth Rodgers, Vicki Perry, Jerry Brown and Valerie Look are pictured at the library’s Grand reopening on Saturday June 22nd from 2pm to 4pm.. (Not present for the photo: Board member Evelyn Atchison). All have worked hard for the library renovation and it looks great! Beginning next week the Library will be open from 3pm to 5pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and is staffed by volunteers. An LED sign installed by Bill Miears has been placed in the front of the building to keep citizens informed of various events and city matters. Vis- itors at Gorman’s RV Park can access the library’s wifi with a code, it was noted. In 1989 Texas Electric gave its old office building to the city of Gorman to be used as a library. The mayor at that time was Charlie Garrett, who avidly supported the project. The library bears his name. ECT Staff Photo
