City Hosts Retirement Party for Adrian Huddleston

A retirement party hosted by the City of Gorman in the Community Center was held for Officer Adrian Huddleston Friday to commemorate his 54 years in law enforcement. Huddleston began his service as a game warden in Dallas, he said and then continued service in law enforcement in various parts of Texas including Laredo on the border. He is shown above with Gorman Chief of Police Steven Anderson.

Gorman Commission: Chief Reports on City Cases

Mayor Robert Ervin called a regular session of the Gorman City Commission to order at 5:15 pm on Thursday, September 17. All commissioners were present; Commissioner Vickie Brown gave the opening prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and Texas Pledge.

Retirements and Promotions Open Doors for Others

Dr. Matt Cardin, Ranger College’s Vice President for Accreditation and Institutional Effectiveness, recently announced his resignation. Matt and his wife Teresa will be moving to Mountain Home, Arkansas, after a very successful six years at RC during which he proved to be an outstanding professor of English and religion, an enthusiastic sponsor of the annual Stephenville Fright Fest horror film festival, and a dedicated vice president who did a fine job for the college. Matt’s thoroughness and dedication to his work are very much admired by all those who have served with him on various projects, duties, and assignments.

Gorman Commission Adopts 2020 Tax Rate

Gorman Commissioners adopted the 2020 No-New-Revenue property tax rate of #.832992 at their Sept. 3rd regular meeting. The City did not propose an increase in 2020 property taxes. This tax rate will raise the same amount of property tax revenue for the City of Gorman as in the 2019 tax year.
